Privacy policy

What we keep about you, why, and how to delete it.

This English version is a translation provided for convenience. OptiLag is sold from France: only the French version is legally binding.
Publisher information to be completed before going live (EDITEUR_* variables in the site configuration). These texts are a template: have them reviewed by a professional.

The essentials

  • Your PC scan stays on your PC: OptiLag sends neither your hardware, nor your settings, nor your files. The app contacts this site to check your license (it only sends your key and an anonymous fingerprint of your PC, which can’t be used to identify it) and updates, and measures your ping to the game server you choose.
  • Your account holds only what’s strictly necessary, and you can delete it yourself at any time.
  • No advertising, no trackers, no third-party cookies.

Data collected

  • Account: username, email address, password stored only in hashed form (scrypt), email language, creation date.
  • Subscription: plan, billing period, status, end of period, customer and subscription IDs at Stripe. Your card number is entered at Stripe and is never sent to us.
  • License: license key, number and date of downloads. For a license limited to one PC: the anonymous fingerprint of the PC where it’s activated, and those of other PCs that tried to use it, with the date and number of attempts.
  • Preference: whether you want to receive news by email.
  • Security: session and reset tokens, stored in hashed form; IP address kept in memory for a few minutes to limit login attempts.

Purposes and legal bases

  • Creating and managing your account, your subscription and your license, giving access to the download: performance of the contract.
  • Billing the subscription and keeping the accounts: legal obligation.
  • Sending you news: your consent, which you can withdraw at any time from your account.
  • Protecting accounts and preventing license sharing: legitimate interest.

Retention period

Your data is kept as long as your account exists. When you delete it, the data is erased immediately, except for accounting records (invoices), kept for ten years as required by law.

Recipients

Only OptiLag’s publisher has access to your data. It’s hosted by the host named in the legal notice. Payments are processed by Stripe Payments Europe Ltd, which is responsible for its own processing, and transactional emails go through an email delivery provider. Nothing is sold or rented.

Cookies

The site only uses two cookies, which don’t require consent: ol_session, strictly necessary to keep you logged in (30 days at most), and ol_langue, which remembers the language you chose (one year). The payment page, hosted by Stripe, uses its own cookies, needed for payment security.

Your rights

You can access your data, correct it, erase it, object to its processing, restrict its use and ask for a copy. Your profile, your subscription and deleting your account are managed directly from your account; for everything else, write to opticore@gmail.com. You can also lodge a complaint with the CNIL, the French data protection authority (cnil.fr).
